Army Torches Louisiana-Monroe

Another game, another dominant Army effort on both sides of the ball.

The Black Knights rushed for over 400 yards in their blowout win over Louisiana Monroe. This marked the first time this year they’ve gone for over 400 on the ground after eclipsing that mark four times in 2019.

“It was a good job by all the guys on offense” stated Army quarterback Christian Anderson. “The lineman created really big holes, the slots and receivers  were doing a great job on the outside with their matchups and I was able to find holes in the defense and was able to exploit them.”

Anderson finished with 95 yards and two touchdowns.

Great blocking by the offense line led to Jakobi Buchanan’s first two touchdowns of his career when he broke off runs of 25 and 40 yards for scores. He finished the day with 106 yards on the ground. Sandon McCoy also found the endzone.

Head Coach Jeff Monken talked about how “pleased” he was with defense mentioning that they’re “playing really, really hard” and it showed today as they held the Warhawks to 200 yards total and have only allowed seven points across the first two games of the season.

The defense created another two turnovers today this time it was an interception and fumble recovery by Marquel Broughton. The latter being forced by junior Nolan Cockrill.

“It’s always satisfying to get a victory” said Cockrill. “Anytime I get to go out there and play with the team it’s a great day.”
