Coaching staff update: Shuffling, new d-line coach

There will be some shuffling on Army’s defensive coaching staff heading into spring practice.

Newly-added assistant Cortney Braswell will coach inside linebackers. Shiel Wood is expected to slid over from inside to outside linebackers coach and assistant head coach John Loose should return to safeties coach filling the void left by Greg Gasparato’s departure to Louisville.

Louisville defensive quality control coach Eric McDaniel is a leading candidate for the defensive line coach opening. Expect McDaniel to be announced as the team’s defensive line coach soon. Prior to McDaniel’s two years at Louisville, McDaniel spent two seasons at Appalachian State in the same capacity with a focus on the defensive line. A Georgia native, McDaniel played defensive tackle for Purdue from 2010-12.

There’s been no announcement on the start of spring practice but hearing it may not begin until late in March.
