LB Camden Vining is the seventh Florida commit to join Army’s 2020 class

Camden Vining followed Army’s defense closely last season, studying inside linebackers Cole Christiansen and James Nachtigal.
Vining was impressed with Christiansen and Nachtigal’s speed and quickness to the ball.
“It (the speed) shows when your tackling guys like Kyler Murray (Oklahoma quarterback and 2019 NFL No. 1 pick),” Vining said.
Vining plans on following the path of Christiansen and Nachtigal in making big plays in the future.
The Saint Stephen’s Episcopal (Fla.) inside linebacker committed to the Black Knights and assistant coach Daryl Dixon Friday. Vining is the seventh 2020 Army commit from the Sunshine State.
“I’m beyond excited,” Vining said. “It’s honestly a dream come true. I’ve wanted to play college football my entire life and to be able to play at a place like West Point is like nothing I have ever dreamed of.”
Vining has made 169 tackles and 26 tackles for loss in the past two seasons at Saint Stephen’s. He visited West Point on June 13.

“It was such as amazing campus, the football facilities were by far the best I’ve ever seen and all of the coaches were great people,” Vining said.
There’s sure to be more Army defensive film breakdowns for Vining in the coming months. Vining is still talking about the Black Knights’ efforts against Oklahoma and Houston last season. Army held Murray and Oklahoma to a season-low 28 points, 21 in regulation, in a overtime road loss and dismantled Houston in a 70-14 victory in the Armed Forces Bowl.
“Seeing that teams like Houston and Oklahoma were only able to score such few points on them shows the Army defense is no joke,” Vining said. “It’s a defense I definitely can’t wait to be a part of.”
