Quick thoughts: 2021 Army football schedule

Army’s newly-released 2021 football schedule may have the program’s toughest road slate in the Jeff Monken era.

The Black Knights will seek their first win over a major Power Five under Monken’s watch when it travels to Camp Randall to play Wisconsin on Oct. 16. Army will also hit the road for two games against teams that finished in the Associated Press final Top 25 rankings on Oct. 2 at Ball State (No. 23) and Nov. 27 at Liberty (No. 17).

The Black Knights’ home schedule features a Oct. 23 matchup against Wake Forest of the Atlantic Coast Conference. The home slate includes three straight games at Michie Stadium against Western Kentucky (Sept. 11), UConn (Sept. 18) and Miami, Ohio (Sept. 25).

Army will play both of its service academy rivals at neutral sites in the same season for the first time since 1965. The Black Knights clash with Air Force on Nov. 6 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas and battle Navy on Dec. 11 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

For the first time since 2017, Army will play just one Division I-AA (FCS) opponent in Bucknell (Nov. 13).

Here’s Army’s 2021 schedule with opponent’s 2020 records:
