Future Bowl Ties: Independence Bowl

The Black Knights’ new six-year postseason cycle could include three trips to the Independence Bowl.

The Independence Bowl announced its conference affiliations Thursday with Army tied into the 2020, 2022 and 2024 games in Shreveport, La. If Army is bowl eligible, the Black Knights could face a Pac-12 Conference team in 2020 and 2024 and a team from the American Athletic Conference in 2022.

Army is also a primary backup for the Belk Bowl and can accept an invitation to the Charlotte game twice through 2025.

The Black Knights’ tie ins for 2021, 2023 and 2025 are ESPN owned and operated bowl games that includes the Armed Forces Bowl.

Army, coming off a 5-8 season, missed the postseason for the first time since 2015. The Black Knights were 2016 Heart of Dallas Bowl and 2017 and 2018 Armed Forces Bowl champions.
