Quick Thoughts – Abilene Christian

Offense back to business

After facing a tough Cincinnati defense a week ago, the Black Knights rushed for over 400 yards and scored six touchdowns. Both Jemel Jones and Tyrell Robinson rushed for over 100 yards as well in their 55-23 win over Abilene Christian.

Next man up

When starting QB Christian Anderson left the game due to injury at the end of the 1st quarter, sophomore Jemel Jones stepped in and the offense didn’t skip a beat. Jones finished with 138 yards on 14 carries and 2 rushing touchdowns. Jones also completed Army’s first touchdown pass of the season, a 33 yard pass to Mike Roberts.

More discipline from start to finish

A week ago Army was penalized for 10 fouls totaling 74 yards, this week they were just called for four penalties for 27 yards.

Zero turnovers for the defense

Following multiple turnovers in the first three games to start the season, the Army defense failed to record a turnover today. They did, however, stop the Wildcats on two of their three fourth down attempts.
