Quick Thoughts – Cincinnati

Offense couldn’t get going

After picking up over 700 yards rushing combined over the first two games of the season the offense was held to just 182 yards on the ground and 276 yards total.

Too many penalties

Even when offense showed some signs of life, penalties got in the way of being able to capitalize and score. Army was called for 11 penalties for 114 yards.

Defense made great plays

A quick look at the Cincinnati stats wouldn’t show it but the Army defense came to play today. Despite a couple of big passing plays on some broken coverages, the Black Knights defense forced two turnovers in the first quarter both from sophomore Jabari Moore. Army also only allowed 74 yards rushing on 32 carries.

Onto next week

Put this game out of your mind. Army plays FCS school Abilene Christian next week where they should be heavy favorites.
