Quick Thoughts – Louisiana-Monroe

Defense Defense Defense.

Army forced another two turnovers today while holding ULM to just 7 points and just 200 yards total in their 37-7 win over the Warhawks. Marquel Broughton came down with an interception and also recovered a fumble that was forced by Nolan Cockrill. Cockrill also blocked a field goal and assisted on 3 tackles for loss today. The Black Knights held the Warhawks Josh Johnson to just 43 yards after he averaged over 100 yards per game last season.

Offense continues to roll.

The Black Knights rushed for over 400 yards today and had a total of 465 yards on 70 plays. Both Christian Anderson and Jakobi Buchanan reached the endzone twice, Anderson rushing for 95 yards and Buchanan for 106.

Two headed monster at fullback?

One week after Sandon McCoy rushed for 50 yards and three touchdowns, Buchanan rushes for over 100 yards and two scores. Consistent, solid fullback play is a key to the Army offense and that’s exactly what they’ve been to start the season.

Fast start to the season.

Army has now outscored their opponents 79-7 to start the season. They’re going to need to keep up next week against a BYU team that beat Navy 55-3 to start the season.
