Quick Thoughts – Middle Tennessee State

Defense means business: 

Army defense forced 4 turnovers on the day and held Middle Tennessee State to 184 total yards under new defensive coordinator Nate Woody. Interceptions by Malkem Morrison and Jon Rhattigan as well as forced fumbles by Cedrick Cunningham and Cameron Jones led the defense in limiting MTSU’s Asher O’Hara to just 48 yards passing.

Tyrell Robinson is fun to watch: 

The freshman running back carried the ball nine times for 94 yards including a game long, 37 yard rush down the MTSU sideline. Robinson hit a juke move on a reverse play in the first quarter that got a nice reaction from the Corps. Sorta has Kell Walker vibes with his speed and ability to make defenders miss.

Christian Anderson making great reads and the offense was on fire: 

One of the reasons for Robinson’s big game were the reads from quarterback Chrisitan Anderson that decisions on when to pitch and when to keep it all game. Anderson added 10 carries himself for 52 yards and a score. 6 offensive drives, 6 touchdowns.

Jonny Nation impresses in first start:

The senior linebacker was making the first start of his career and it took all but 4 plays for him to make an impact recovering a fumble on MTSU’s first drive of the game. He also added a 43 yard interception return for a touchdown as well as adding 6 tackles.

Sandon McCoy for Heisman?:

Senior running back Sandon McCoy scored 3 touchdowns from one, two and four yards out. All in the first half.
