Recruiting: Record-breaking Pa. running back Ben Jackson joins 2020 class

West Greene (Pa.) senior Ben Jackson set Western Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic League rushing records this fall.
Jackson’s future appears to be on the defensive side of the ball after recently announcing his commitment to the Black Knights.

The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Jackson is being recruited to play linebacker at West Point. Jackson rushed for 3,076 yards and 50 touchdowns this season.
“I’ve always wanted to serve this nation,” Jackson said. “I feel as if it’s my duty to serve the greatest nation God put on this earth. That was a large deciding factor. But, I always wanted a great education and play football.  West Point marks all of those boxes.”

Johnson, who gained more than 7,000 yards in his career, camped at Army over the summer entering his senior season and visited West Point during the UMass game on Nov. 9.

“There was something different about the atmosphere,” Jackson said. “It was a great day and a great game. I loved how exciting it felt.”
Military service runs in Jackson’s family. Both of his grandfathers and three uncles have served. His grandfather and uncle on his mother’s side served in the Army.

Jackson is looking forward to playing linebacker for the Black Knights.
“I love how aggressive they play and how they bring guys (blitz),” Jackson said. “I think it’ll be a great fit for me.”

Three recruits have recently decommited from the 2020 class: Indian Land (S.C.) cornerback A.J. Jefferson, Klein Oak (Texas) defensive back Dominic Morris and Lusher (La.) running back Miles Stewart.
